System 7 users will be prompted and asked if the items need to be in the Control Panel Folder, simply click OK. Now reboot your system to load SafeLock. To configure SafeLock after you reboot, go to the Apple Menu on the menu bar and select Control Panels. Locate and select the SafeLock icon by double click on the icon. A dialog will ask you to enter a password, type in "trend" as described above. Another dialog will ask you to enter your name and company, when you are done press OK. **************************** COMPATIBILITY *********************************** € SilverLining hard disk format utility: WARNING! You may experience a compatibility problem with hard drives that have been formatted with the SilverLining hard disk format utility. At times, SafeLock will be unable to unlock the hard drive once it has been locked, or it simply crashes at startup. We recommend that you DO NOT use SafeLock on drives that have been formatted with the SilverLining utility. We recommend that you reformat and update your drives using another hard disk formatter before installing SafeLock. € Invisible Files: If you are using invisible files that have been created by application or software programs, Safelock will not enable them. To resolve this, please set the file creator by typing the following resources: 1. 'STR#' ID=-43 "Invisible Creators" Put application's creator in this resource 2. 'STR#' ID=-4042 "Invisible Types" Put application's type in this resource The application's type entered in "Invisible Types' has to be arranged in the same entry of application's creator in 'Invisible Creators'. For example, an application's type and creator are 'MaMa', 'PaPa' respectively. If 'MaMa' stores in the first entry of -4042, 'PaPa' has to be stored in the first entry of -4043. € Norton Utilities File Save: If you are using Norton Utilities File Save, please load it BEFORE SafeLock. If you are using an INIT manager, make sure File Save is loaded before SafeLock. Under normal circumstances, it is not necessary to make this change due to the fact that control panel devices are loaded in alphabetical order. € SuperLaser Spool: If you are using SuperLaser Spool, please load it AFTER SafeLock. If you are not using an INIT manager and you are running System 7, put SafeLock in the extension folder within the system folder by following these steps: 1. Open the System Folder. 2. Insert the SafeLock program disk into drive A. 3. Drag the SafeLock icon to the extension folder. 4. Open the extension folder and select the SafeLock icon by cliking on it once. 5. Select "Make Alias" from the file menu. 6. Drag the alias of SafeLock into the Control Panel folder. This procedure will load SafeLock before the SuperLaser Spool. Making an alias of the SafeLock CDEV and placing it in the control panel device folder enables you to access SafeLock if it is in the extension folder. € Global Village Modem/Fax and Communication Software: If you are using Global Village Modem/Fax and Communication Software, make sure it loads AFTER SafeLock. € Running Two Operating Systems: If you are switching between two operating systems, make sure you have SafeLock installed in both System Folders. € Memory Requirements: SafeLock requires 75Kb. ____________________________________________________________________________ Trend Micro Devices, Inc.
