CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO HOST
                               AI-ED 97--
      8TH WORLD CONFERENCE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN EDUCATION
      ------------------------------------------------------------

The AI-ED Society requests proposals to host the AI-ED Conference in 1997.  
All proposals will be considered by the AI-ED Society Executive Committee.
Proposals submitted at this stage are not considered binding but rather as
expressions of interest.  Proposal authors will be contacted to obtain
more specific information. 

A proposal to host AI-ED 97 should include but not be limited to the 
following information:

PROPOSED LOCATION AND DATES
---------------------------
   Describe: conference facilities, convenience, accommodation, 
   transportation, cost, availability of local support, etc. and of 
   secondary 'benefits' such as recreation, (cultural) events, tours, etc.

SUPPORTING INSTITUTES
---------------------
   AI-ED 97 should be hosted and supported by an institute (university, 
   research establishment, industrial company) rather than by
   private persons.  Indicate the likely support from local (country, 
   continent) organisations involved in AI and/or Education.  The nature 
   of this support (logistic, financial, etc.) could also be indicated.  
   Provisional local organisers could be named.

BUDGET CONSIDERATIONS
---------------------
   AACE, on behalf of the AI-ED Society, has overall financial
   responsibility for the AI-ED conferences.  Describe briefly any
   significant budgetary features of your proposal.

Persons contemplating making a proposal to host AI-ED 97 are certainly
welcome to discuss their ideas informally with any member of the AI-ED
Society Executive Committee.

PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

You are asked to submit a copy of your preliminary proposal to host 
AI-ED 97 via e-mail to: 

    aiedec@comp.lancs.ac.uk

This will distribute your proposal to all members of the AI-ED Society
Executive Committee.  All proposals will be regarded as confidential.
If appropriate, members of the Executive Committee will then work with 
you to develop a final proposal, which, if approved by the Executive
Committee, will be the basis for a contract between you and AACE.


DEADLINES

Initial Proposal Submission:  March 1, 1995
  Final Proposal Submission:  June 1, 1995
             Final Decision:  August 20, 1995
