Phil's report on cheking with State about peer leader training Found out that there is one. Jane Peacock is chief over the program. Phil has been referred to the point person and they will be calling him back. I we can do this, we need to get after it to do it this summer and have kids ready fothe fall. Phil will email Jay and we may need to have a telephone conference about this when it happens. Alan's report on curiculum on Peer helping Peer He brought a binder. 23 item course, active listening, deision making, school problems and relationship, among others. they got it to train teen leaders to help with groups. Phil asks how it works at Teambuilders. Alan says it works pretty well. There can be multiple teens to work on this. He has used it in several capacities. It was made for use at school, but works well elsewhere. Phil asks if MCCH has money for stipends to help these kids. He says the Healthier communities money will be out soon and we could get some stipend money for kids to participate during the summer. Alan expalins how it has worked in the past with Teen Scene. Jay asks Susan if TUPAC has money for this. It might. George asks what amount of stipend might work. Phil says that any amount helps to keep them interested and stuck to it. It is the same for all of us. Heather askes if we would screen these kids. Yes, phil says, we can do it like an interview. There is no study hall right now that kids touse to get to per leaders. We need to get with the school principals to work through this. This could be done at the Success Center as well, Alan says. there is little cost involved. Jay's Report to get with Tucumcari Principals. George handled it. The Tucumcari meeting will be on April 16th at 1pm. George's report talk to Carolyn Already done. Attended well. This is what we are about. Sharing information and matching moneys with activities to be done. Phil said that one of our motels is being renovated for vets and youth could help with that. Also there is a lady here that wants to do murals with youth. Homework reports Nathan meet with Dr. Reents about survey results. He met with him. There was interest in it. SMyouth to add questions to survey and email to group. This has been done and given to Noreen. Noreen contact conselors at outlying schools to get survey out. She contacted them, but none have responded. House is getting with with seniors to get the survey. Youth get us on the school board meeting. Asked Mr. Pacheco about this and he said to just go to the next meeting. It will be on Monday evening. Jay can help with presentation. Jay: several items George did meeting with principals. George reports that there have been no referrals lately. Jay still needs to get the awards stuff on a (maybe) May 20th awards ceremony. Edna report on Valmora Tabled. Homework Phil -- follow up on peer leardership person. find out what motel is getting refitted for vets. Susan -- will chek to see how we can work peer leadership into TUPAC money. Alan -- find out about the mural lady and how to partner with her. Jay -- help SMyouth with a paragraph or so for the school board presentation. Isabel -- will check on whether Noreen can buy some samples of th peer training materials she suggested and if there is money fot them.
