This simple object generates a line-by-line graphical display on the player's screen. The display is a set of random letters that shifts left and right. The display is ended when the player presses enter. There are three configuration variables: .cfg_freq Sets the average number of lines between direction shifts. .cfg_amp Sets the maximum angle (in characters) that the text can shift. .cfg_tempo Sets the number of seconds between each line. In the normal opperation of a cathode ray tube (CRT) or computer monitor, electrons are fired at the surface of the screen. When they collide, the phosphorus coating on the screen glows briefly, forming the picture. When the same picture is left on the screen day after day, the phosphorus starts to evaporate from the bright areas. This causes dead spots in the screen. Screen-savers prevent this by evenly illuminating all spots on the screen when the computer isn't being used. Switching off the monitor works even better, but screen-savers are often more interesting to watch.
