These include Genbank-Sequences/ Search GenBank (latest full release)/ Search GenBank (weekly updates)/ Search Swiss-Protein (latest full release)/ Flybase/ Genes/ Search FlyBase Genes data/ People/ Search FlyBase People addresses / Stocks/ Search Bloomington USA stocks/ and others Refs/ Search FlyBase References/ IUBio-Software+Data/ Search IUBio archive ReadMes & Help files/ Network-News/ Search Bionet News thru IUBio / All employ the new Gopher+ methods. The reason for adding these items is to allow you to specify more options and choices for your search. These items let you ask for a maximum number of matches, and for the returned matches, you get also a document with just the titles (which is all some of you want), and the further choice to fetch items separately or all in a batch as one document. This new Gopher+ method does not work properly with the older gopher- clients. It may cause problems for you, if you use a gopher- client to access one of these new search folders. But for those of you using Gopher+ clients, you now have more options for searching. The older Search items will remain. I may rename some of these things. I recommend that you really consider switching to one of the newer Gopher+ clients if you are using an older, gopher- (non-gopher+) client. Here is a list of Gopher+ clients that will work properly with these new searches: (as of 15 Oct 93) Unix curses (Uminn,v.2.08) Mac TurboGopher (v.1.07) Mac GopherApp++ (v.2.0) MSWin HGopher (v.2.2) You may find copies of these in the folder Gopher+TEST/Gopher+software/ on this server. However, it is possibly these will be older versions. You may need to look at the server at boombox.micro.umn.edu for pointers to the newest software versions. .
