        3k Associates provides network and messaging solutions for
HP3000 computer users. We provide the only SMTP based (and MIME
compabitle) electronic mail system for HP3000 computers; POP2 and
POP3 servers for the HP3000; an electronic mail gateway for HPDesk
or HPOpenDesk sites (called DeskLink) that links HPDesk with any
SMTP compatible mail system (including the Internet); and a gopher
server (information server) for the HP3000.

NetMail/3000

        NetMail/3000 is the only standards-based electronic mail
system for the HP3000 line of business systems. Designed from the
beginning to operate in a mixed environment, and adopting the most
common electronic mail protocols in existance, NetMail/3000
provides a solution for companies ranging from single-system
HP3000 based environments, to large heterogeneous enviroments
with hundreds of hardware platforms and dozens of existing
electronic mail systems. Priced independent of hardware platform
and licensed with an unlimited number of mailboxes per system,
NetMail/3000 truly provides an electronic communications solution
that can grow with any organization.

        NetMail/3000 includes (at no extra cost) sophisticated capabilities
like built in SMTP and MIME capability, bundled POP2 and POP3 servers,
user-definable message filters,directory synchronization, multi-level
mailing lists (user modifiable), multimedia message transport (using the
MIME standard), automatic file transfer between host and PC emulators,
the ability to automatically invoke applications to process message
attachments on your PC, and an easy-to use menu-based administration
program. Simple and quick to install (often less than 5 minutes), your
HP3000 can be 'talking' with other systems in minutes and doesn't
require 'babysitting' or time-consuming ongoing maintenance.

The POP Mail Server

        The NetMail/3000 system bundle (with the user interface) includes
the POP2 *and* POP3 server at no extra cost. This provides access to the
HP 3000 as an e-mail server by any POP2 or POP3 compliant client package.
PC or Mac users can use a GUI interface like Eudora (from Qualcomm) to read
and send their mail without ever logging onto the 3000 (or even knowing that
their mail is stored on a 3000). Administrators reap the benefits of a
consolidated mail hub and the labor and cost savings that go with it.
  The POP server may also be ordered as an option for DeskLink (the
HP OpenDesk Gateway) users, and is also available as a standalone mail

The DeskLink HPDesk FSC/SMTP Gateway

        NetMail/3000 offers an HPDesk FSC gateway as an option.
This option can work in addition to, or instead of the NetMail/3000
user interface. It provides a link to SMTP (and MIME) compliant mail
systems for HP OpenDesk mail users. It resides on any HP3000 in the
HPDesk network, and handles incoming (SMTP to HPDesk) mail as
well as outgoing (HPDesk to SMTP). It runs independently from
HPDesk but on the same system. It requires no special hardware or
software for MPE/iX systems. See the separate spec sheet for more

The Gopher Server

        The Gopher server allows your HP3000 to act as an industry
standard data repository for information of all types. Gopher clients
connecting to your HP3000 will see organized menus leading them
to documents or on-line files, which they can download or view at
the touch of a button. The Gopher server is available as an option to
NetMail/3000 mail system users, DeskLink users, POP Server users,
