README file for the Freeware NetMail release WHAT NETMAIL/3000 CAN DO The NetMail/3000 2 user freeware release runs on MPE/iX systems (the current MOVER distribution requires MPE/iX 5.0; though the software itself will run on any MPE version). It allows you to use a maximum of 2 mailboxes on the system, though these mailboxes can be accessed from any session/user/ account on your system (once you configure the mailbox(es)). This release also will not run in BATCH(job) mode. NetMail/3000 can send and receive e-mail between any system(s) supporting SMTP (the Internet standard - Simple Mail Transport Protocol). NetMail/3000 is also MIME compatible (a multimedia standard for attaching binary files or documents to mail messages). NetMail/3000 supports any HP terminal and all popular terminal emulators, and can automatically upload or download files to PCs when using Reflection, MS92, Business Session, or Advancedlink. Additionally, NetMail/3000 can automatically launch applications on your PC to view multimedia attachments (documents/spreadsheets/etc) if you are using Reflection for Windows as your terminal emulator. You can also create mailing(distribution) lists, folders to file messages in, and you'll find a wealth of advanced features. You'll also be able to send and receive MPE files (maintaining all their unique attributes) as well as receive MPE/iX patches from HP via e-mail on the Internet. NetMail/3000 also comes bundled with a POP2 and POP3 server. You can use any POP compatible client to send and receive e-mail on your pc/mac/workstation. Clients like Eudora (from Qualcomm) and NetScape Navigator's built-in e-mail client both work and are popular fully GUI clients. .
