PATRICIA A. BLACKMON,A.J.:
     Relator, Peter Viceroy, seeks a writ of mandamus in order to
compel the  respondent,  Gerald E.  Fuerst,  Clerk of  Courts  of
Cuyahoga County, to  produce copies, at  state's expense, of  all
judgment  entries as issued  in the underlying  case of State  v.
Viceroy, Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Case No. CR-315048.
The respondent has filed a motion for summary judgment, which this
court grants for the following reasons.
     In essence, the relator seeks public records pursuant to R.C.
149.43. The respondent, however, possesses no legal duty to remit
copies, at  state's expense, of  the requested judgment  entries.
State ex rel. Mayrides v. City of Whitehall (1990), 62 Ohio App.3d
225; State ex rel. Kiousis v. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office
(Apr. 7, 1992), Cuyahoga App. No. 61488, unreported; State ex rel.
Greene v. Enright  (1992), 63 Ohio St.3d  729.  In addition,  the
respondent possesses  no legal duty  to respond  to requests  for
public records as made by mail and further possesses no legal duty
to provide public records by mail.  State ex rel. Fenley v.  Ohio
Historical Society (1993), 67 Ohio St.3d 438; State ex rel. Nelson
v. Fuerst (1993),  66 Ohio St.3d  47.  See,  also, State ex  rel.
Nelson v. Tubbs Jones (1993), 67 Ohio St.3d 438.
     Accordingly, we grant  the respondent's  motion for  summary
judgment.  Costs to relator.
     Writ denied.
