PATRICIA A. BLACKMON,A.J.:
     Clifford Hairston,  relator, is seeking  a writ of  mandamus
pursuant to R.C. 149.43 to compel respondent, the Cleveland Police
Department, to "render entire police report--beginning 1-9-95--to
include identification procedure."  Complaint, paragraph 1.  Rela-
tor,  however,  has failed  to  provide  a  supporting  affidavit
detailing his claim, which is required by Local App.R. 8(B)(1) to
avoid dismissal.   Moreover, relator, who is incarcerated at  the
Madison Correctional Institution, is clearly unable to appear  in
person to request and inspect and/or copy any records of respondent
which may be public records.  Accordingly, this action is dismissed
sua sponte. See State ex rel. Boyd v. Court of Common Pleas (Dec.
11, 1997),  Cuyahoga App. No.  73194, unreported;  State ex  rel.
Simmons v. Angelotta  (June 12, 1997),  Cuyahoga App. No.  72198,
unreported.  Costs to relator.
