COURT OF APPEALS OF OHIO, EIGHTH DISTRICT COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA NO. 74551 STATE OF OHIO, EX REL. : PETITION FOR WRIT OF VANCE FIELDS : MANDAMUS : Relator : MOTION NO. 96611 : vs. : JOURNAL ENTRY AND OPINION : JUDGE RICHARD LILLIE : COURT OF COMMON PLEAS : CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO : : Respondent : : DATE OF ANNOUNCEMENT OF DECISION : JULY 23, 1998 JUDGMENT : WRIT DISMISSED. DATE OF JOURNALIZATION : APPEARANCES: For Relator : VANCE FIELDS, Pro Se No. A270-828 Ohio State Reformatory P. O. Box 788 Mansfield, Ohio 44901 For Respondent : STEPHANIE TUBBS-JONES Cuyahoga County Prosecutor ARTHUR A. ELKINS, Assistant Justice Center, Courts Tower 1200 Ontario Street Cleveland, Ohio 44113 -2- PATRICIA A. BLACKMON, A.J.: On May 22, 1998, the relator, Vance Fields, commenced this mandamus action to compel the respondent judge to issue findings of fact and conclusions of law for postconviction relief petitions, which Mr. Fields in 1997 filed in the underlying case, State of Ohio v. Vance Fields, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Case Nos. CR-286172. On June 19, 1998, the respondent, through the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, moved for summary judgment on the grounds of mootness. Attached to the dispositive motion was a copy of a certified, signed and file-stamped June 16, 1998 journal entry containing the requisite findings of fact and conclusions of law for Mr. Fields's petitions. A review of the postconviction petitions establishes that these findings of fact and conclusions of law fairly meet the claims Mr. Fields argued. This attachment establishes that the judge has fulfilled his duty to issue the findings of fact and conclusions of law and that Mr. Fields has received his requested relief, a resolution of his postconviction petitions. Accordingly, the motion for summary judgment is granted, and this writ action is dismissed. Respondent to pay costs. JAMES M. PORTER, J., CONCURS. PATRICIA A. BLACKMON, -3- ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE .
