PATRICIA A. BLACKMON,A.J.:
     Tobias R.  Reid, relator,  filed a  petition for  a writ  of
mandamus to compel respondent, Judge Kathleen Ann Sutula, to render
a decision on a Motion for Reduction of Sentence filed in  Common
Pleas Case No. 327977. Respondent moved for summary judgment based
on mootness  and attached  a certified  copy of  a journal  entry
denying relator's motion on November 18, 1997, in Common Pleas Case
No. 327977.  Since the requested relief has been performed,  this
action is moot.  A writ of mandamus cannot be issued to compel an
act already performed. State ex rel. Jerningham v. Cuyahoga County
Court of Common Pleas (1996), 74 Ohio St.3d 1278, 658 N.E.2d 723.
     Accordingly, respondent's  motion  for summary  judgment  is
granted.  Costs to relator.
