     Richard  Padgett, relator, is seeking  a writ of procedendo to
compel respondent, Judge W. F. Mahon, to forward a statement to the
appropriate institution pursuant to Crim. R.  32.2(D).  The writ of
procedendo, however,  may only  be issued  in cases  where a  trial
court has either refused to render  a judgment or has unnecessarily
delayed  proceeding  to  judgment.   State  ex  rel.  Sherrills  v.
Cuyahoga County Court  of Common Pleas  (1995), 72 Ohio St.3d  461,
650 N.E.2d  899.  The writ will not  be issued to compel extraneous
postjudgment  acts  where  a  more  appropriate  remedy  may be  in
mandamus.   Relator  has  failed to  state a  claim  for relief  in
procedendo and we  therefore grant  respondent's Motion to  Dismiss
Petition for Writ of Procedendo.
     Case dismissed.  Costs to relator.
