Also keep in mind that gain isnt everything. You may also want good sidelobe attenuation or front to back ratio. Gain is also a function of bandwidth. ie if you want an antenna to work over a wider bandwidth with gain then that gain will be lower. Antennas cut for spot frequencies with a hugh gain wont work well once you change frequency slightly. Its better to initially compare gain vs operating frequency on a graph. Just being picky and waffling too much!
