I have 2 80 gig WD drives now and the only problem I have is if I try to install them with another brand of harddrive, they refuse to function, but together, they work fine.. go figure. For Seagate, I have yet to have a failure except for the 40MB drive I dropped.. It doesn't seem to work anymore.. :) In fairness, the Maxtors were used with Win9x and the problems could be interpreted as software corruption. I was able to recover my data and reformat the drives and use them still. I've had a Fujitsu with the same software problem.. (Windows not found/ does not boot) Same deal, I can recover, reformat, use it. I just try not to use Win9x anymore. :) Can't say I've had a drive fail using linux, but then I don't really use it often. :o -Mindless Automaton --- þ Synchronet .
