I had that a while ago with a Western Digital..
3 year warranty and it died about 3 weeks short of 3 years..
BUT they complained that the manufacture date was over 3 years.
I had to fight about it on the phone in 2 countries before
they finally agreed to replace it based on the date I bought
it rather than the date they built it..
