Not me.  I think it did finally continue the tradition in a good
manner.  It showed the Federation as a more developed idea, for the
most part.

Precisely.  Both were different.  TNG had some *great* stories that
the TOS crew could not have told, due to the technology of the time.
This does not diminsh in the least the awesomeness of TOS, of course,
but it shows that TNG does have it's place in the Trekverse.
