TOS had ten great episodes; TNG had 50, and ten better than anything ever done on TOS. I don't think TNG holds up very well because of its repugnant PC smarminess. When the audience reaches a point where there is no cultural context for those sentiments .. and TNG can stand alone on its own merits .. I think you'll see a resurgent appreciation for TNG. Probably won't happen in my lifetime, though .. .
