Admittedly I stopped watching the Next Generation during the second season and only went back to it after a couple of years. But it did have those middle seasons and Patrick Stewart as a lead. Enterprise didn't and Scot Bakula is no Patrick Stewart. Also, stupid as Picard could be, Archer's towering incompetence totally cast in him the shadow. .
