And greater ruthlessness. I always had the impression the Feds could have kicked the Klingon's butts anytime they wanted to (though at a very high cost) -- especially in "Undiscovered Country". In TOS it probably would have been a tough battle since the Klingon's were a "take no prisoners" sort of species and the Feds tended to be more "touchy-feely". But in the end I think the Feds would have prevailed. > Had TPTB wanted a race with superior technology feeding tech to the > Terrans little by little, the Andorians would have been a perfect > choice. The only justification for Vulcan behavior in ENT was the influence Romulans were exerting on central command. It could be argued that Romulus wanted to keep Earth weak and out of the game, so they had their Vulcan agents issue orders to that effect. And I guess it could be argued that the more sensible Vulcans were off meditating somewhere while all this was going on. Still, the idea of crotchety Vulcans and some great conspiracy -- and having that lame-ass character Archer turn out to be the one to restore Vulcan integrity -- just flew in the face of what I would have expected of the Vulcans. It just didn't ring true. The Andorians would have been a more -- ahem - logical choice since you could see how they were driven by their emotionalism and perhaps their drive to secure their position in the quadrant by helping to improve the military technology of humans (who were more temperamentally similar to them) whom they could then rely upon as allies ww .
