As Janeway noted, Q has never been noted to lie.

However, one thing that makes it not a good thing to do; there's no guarantee
that the Earth that Q puts them in would be the same Earth that they were
expecting.  Q promised to get them back to Earth, and that was it; it could be
a parallel timeline earth; perhaps worse, he could drop them right in the
middle of a battle with the Dominion.
