Subj : Emotional Trek moments ... To : alt.tv.star-trek.enterprise From : Darmok Date : Sun Sep 11 2005 08:32:41 From Newsgroup: alt.tv.star-trek.enterprise Any particular 'moments' in any series of Trek that, no matter how many times you've seen them, still affect you? TOS: City On The Edge: get choked up every time I see that one, and I must have seen it 100 times - that final scene, where Kirk spots Spock & McCoy coming out of the shelter, Edith crossing the street .. Kirk hold McCoy back ... TNG: Skin of Evil: Tasha's "Goodbye" in the holodeck gets me every time. There were probably other TNG moments .. lots of them, since its still about my favorite Trek. DS9: What You Leave Behind: Besides being the best Trek Finale, when "Vic" starts singing "The Way You Look Tonight", and then they go down "memory lane" of all the main characters, and finish by panning the "audience" at Vic's, and you see Behr, and others .. gets me every time. Quite a few other moments with DS9 too, as it, too, is some of my favorite Trek. The finale just comes to mind so easily. VOY: Only emotional moment I get with this load of tripe is when I think about how much time and money was wasted on producing it! ENT: Tough one ... nothing really powerful comes to mind at the moment, and maybe that speaks volumes as to why the show never caught on. Closest thing I can think of off hand is when T'Pol's mom dies, and her trying to deal with it in an emotionless manner. Some folks don't like "sappy moments", but I tend to enjoy them .. brings out the humanity it the characters; and me. Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there, and see what other eps. gave you a strong emotion ... one way or another. It can be the emotion of hate too, if you prefer. One such moment for me was Capt. Jellico's tenure on 1701-D. Another is Adm. Hafftel's attempt to take Data's daughter away from him. Still another is from TNG's BoBW Pt. 1, and the Lt.Cmdr. Shelby BITCH! If I'd been Riker, I don't know if I'd have been able to restrain myself! All hailing frequencies open for any responses ... .
