Which is silly...Voyager had plenty of boring "forehead alien of the week" episodes and episodes where the alien was completely a special effect which had gotten old by the end of TNG. Some of the best episodess of enterprise were about the Vulcans and the andorians. They had TOO MANY new species when we should have learned about the vulcans the andorians, and the tellarites(we didnt really learn ANYTHING about them). > > 2. The series should have been set after TNG and DS9, the history was > already known and there are still a lot of unknowns out there. Yeah because noone wants to watch movies about WWII or the civil war(sarcasm). Its not the overall history people want to watch its the STORY AND THE CHARACTERS. Apollo 13 everyone knew what happened yet it was a hit movie, because people cared about the characters. > In effect, Star Trek had become a serial rather than a series of self > contained stories over 1 or 2 episodes. Unless you are an avid Star > Trek fan, most people just got sick of it and turned off. 24, Babylon 5, Stargate sg-1, ... they were series that turned people off. (*cough* bulls--t *cough) Enterprise turned people off because the series WASNT going anywhere in seasons 1 & 2. Season 3 had enemies noone gave a s--t about. When a series is well written and people can easily watch old episodes they will go back and watch them. You can have both multiyear story arcs and enjoyable episodes. > I sincerely hope a new series comes out with better writing, more story > lines and more unknown species. It would be a shame for it to > disappear. How about better writing, fewer storylines and unknowns species ONLY when it serves the plot. .
