Genvieve Bujold didn't like much of anything about the show apparently (and in retrospect, can you really blame her?) and left after a day or two of filming. Mostly she was used to movies and not TV. I'm not sure Mulgrew was so much 'second choice' as 'who can we have here by tomorrow morning' -- You Can't Stop the Signal .
