Subj : Today's Thought To : Newborn From : George Pope Date : Tue Oct 11 2005 23:18:00 N> > The Torah contains more than the written books of Moses, as Moses himself N> > testified ("as was shown to me..." etc.) N> > and when it says he brought down BOTH the Torah and the Mishnah("instruct N> > concerning the Torah") from Sinai. N> > N> Moses is credited with the first five books (the Pentateuch) and certai N> the Torah consists of more then these. However you are add more to wha N> is in the Torah, including quotes from the Rabbis (the Talmud) which ar N> NOT divinly inspired, but the 'works' of man. The Talmud is not a single work, nor is it a man-made work -- it derives directly from the Mishnah, which as I pointed out above, is stated as God-given in the 5 books of Moses (in Exodus, IIRC) N> > There's more evidence in the Xian Bible that Jesus was married than that N> > was! N> > N> N> There are many 'false' books of Scripture that were never accepted as N> God's wprd. I did say the "Xian Bible" (not the 'lost gospels' or any such nonsense, but the standard 66-book Christian canon) N> > Jesus, at least, was at a wedding ceremony, and travelled/cohabitted with N> > woman exclusively of all others. N> > N> Being at a 'wedding ceremony' does not mean the Lord was married. The gr N> and bride were probably friends of the family and Jesus attended as a fav N> to Mary. Travelled/cohabitted? Boy are you reaching! Most of Jesus's N> company was male disciples and apostles. He never cohabitted with a wome N> (you can never find ONE Biblical reference in the traditional writtings). N> He also had many women friends (Mary, Martha, etc), but they were support N> and financeres of His ministry NOT sexual partners. Like I said, there is more evidence suggestive of Jesus being married than of Paul ever having been so (Paul's anti-woman stance & refusal to marry would suggest strongly that he's not a marriage-minded man, but Jesus was very much accepting/loving of women, and showed his respect for the marriage ritual, by making sure the tradition of great gaity was present at the wedding (by providing a big pitcher of GOOD wine for the guests!) Paul exhibited nothing but contempt for the ritual/practice. . . N> to qualify for membership, he was probably a widower who never remarried. N> Paul said "I wish that all men were as myself" (1 Cor. 7:17) For the N> Gospel's sake he chose to remain unmarried for the sake of his ministry. So he wished all men would have had a wife die? Because I care, |<+]::-) (Cyberpope(the Bishop of ROM!)) .... nfx v3.1 --- þ Synchronet þ The Thunderbolt BBS - tbolt.synchro.net - (501) 223-2541 .
