Subj : Dirty Laundry To : All From : Newborn Date : Thu Sep 22 2005 22:57:00 When a women and her husband left their house, their dog Maggie went sniffing for old shoes and dirty laundry. She would surround herself with what shd found and the slept with it under her nose, The familiar smell comforted her until they returned. Of course Maggie didn't realize she's following a Levitical command to "distinguish between...unclean and clean" (Leviticus 10:10). Nor did she known she was violating it. In a world still swirling in sin long after it's catastrophic collision with evil, God commanded His followers to live holy lives (Leviticus 11:45). Distinguishing between clean and unclean is essential to that task. Such discernment reequires more than finely tuned physical senses. The Apostle Paul wrote that the "natural man"-that is, a human being in his sinful state-"does not receive the things of the Spirit of God...they are spiritiaully discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). It is the Holy Spirit who provides the wisdom (v.13). Just as Maggie finds confort in old shoes and socks, many people seek comfort in old dirty sins. We must be mindful that our comfort and consolation come from God, who loves us and who will establish us in "every good world and work" (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17). There is no true happiness apaart from holiness and no holiness apart from Christ. Newborn Christianity is a personal relationship, not a religion --- þ Synchronet þ Origin: The Hard Drive Cafe - Montgomery Al USA - www.hdcbbs.net .
