Actually, I used to be a huge Rutger Hauer fan. The work he did with Verhoeven when they were in the Netherlands was great. He was creepy in "Nighthawks" and "Flesh and Blood," brilliant in "Blade Runner," and he even lent a very human side to an otherwise campy "Ladyhawke." And don't even get me started on his VERY disturbing role in "The Hitcher." That's still one of the most unnerving movies I've ever seen (try and look at French Fries/Chips the same way again after watching THAT one). It saddened me in the 90's when his career fell on hard times. I really think he could have been one the great stars if he had gotten a few more breaks. Maybe someone like Quentin Tarantino can "rediscover" him again some day, like with Travolta. > On the other hand credit where credit is due - Every single episode of > every season tried to give us something we hadn't seen before with a > sense of humour and style totally fresh for TV. That's true. But I can't help but think that a lot of the stuff they did was based more on budget contraints than creativity (like setting the last season/series on contemporary Earth). > I'm so seriously sick of endlessly repeated trash I don't even have a TV > set anymore I just watch occasionally on the PC. I can feel with you on that, brother. Still, there is still some decent stuff out there. I really liked the new Battlestar Galactica (particularly the miniseries and 1st season/series). -Eric .
