Just finished it. It was really quite good in spite of the slightly pat 
ending.

Read a few reviews commenting on how the training and battle sequences 
(future stuff notwithstanding) continues to resonate with veterans of actual 
combat. I wouldn't know about that of course, but found it compelling anyway.
