Anyone heard anything about the security situation there?

I'd like to think no one was stupid enough to forget about this after recent 
events, but that whole "benefit of the doubt" thing hasn't worked out so well 
to date.

For that matter, does anyone know why it was impossible to drop a few hundred 
armed National Guard into the Superdome the day after the hurricane to head 
off the nightmare that followed?
