The Times had a front page story during the week says that, after a couple of days, there was very little National Guard presence, and that rapes, looting and general anarchy were being reported. You do have to wonder why preparations weren't in place by the government in advance - there has been nothing else in the news for days, everyone knew NO was going to get hit hard, yet Bush apparently did nothing but the bare minimum. Is it true he was on holiday when it hit, and stayed there for a few days after Katrina hit ?
