However, the corroboratoin of the potemkin aid stations is not going to come from major outlets. The journalists cleared to travel with Bush woudl instantly be left on the side of the road if they didn't report the party line, assuming that they were even inclined to report anything that went counter to the official image the Bushies are trying to project. And as far a outlandish stories, back channel early warning, and big media corroboraion goes: Note how the Michael Brown backeground story evolved to exactly what I pointed to the other day. He went from being a "former city council man with responsibilities for city emergency management, and head of hte International Arabian Horsebreeders Association wih ties to the Inernational Olympic Committee" To a "Bush crony former college roomate with no obvious qualifications for the job" in roughly 24 hours. In short, it pays to listen to the back channels because without them we would be th edumb, fat, and stupid Americans that so many of us have aspired to in recent years. .
