Thanks for all your concern.  We found out all family members in NO are
safe.  One family friend is still unaccounted for, and we're hoping
he's OK.

My husband's 70-something aunt weathered the storm in New Orleans in
her fourth floor apartment, and was evacuated yesterday to another city
in La.  I hear she'll be taken to another state today (Arkansas,
maybe).  We have been wondering why her adult son didn't come and take
her out, but we'll deal with him later.  He better have a DAMN good
excuse, even if she is fairly obstinate.

My mother-in-law is quite concerned about the state of the family
synagogue and her parents' final resting place.  Her family has been in
NO for several generations, and many in our family are mourning the
loss of the city.

In other news my little Michigan town will be getting 180-200 refugees
this weekend.  Word is they are being transported in school buses from
Louisiana/Mississippi.
