Oddly, the people who have been doing the most are getting the least press. The La Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries were the first ones in there with boats and have been pulling people out since it was safe to go in. The Lieutenant Governor went out to see the efforts in one of the boats and ended up spending the entire day helping pull people out. The remarkable part is there were not even any television cameras to see him to it. There is as much being done as possible. People are being taken out of the city as fast as possible. But can you imagine trying to drive a boat through a city where you don't know what is under you or how deep or shallow the water may be? There are thousands of people still in New Orleans and they are getting them out. It just takes a ridiculous amount of time because of how slow you have to go in a boat and how few people one can hold. Personally, I think they should be using the helicopters to drop food and water to people who they can't get to right away. However, it is hard to send helicopters back in to help people when the people they are trying to help are shooting at them. I know it isn't all the people but what do you tell the helicopter pilot who is working to get people out? "We know it is rough out there, but try to dodge any bullets you see coming at you." These aren't all military folks. .
