Point of fact Universal needs to put out X many movies per year, this feeds the needs of their DVD distribution channels, and NBC/SciFi/USA TV networks. If a movie based on a known property can break even then its chances of getting its $40M and a greenlight are better than unknown properties, and about equal to a remake of a hit from the 60's. The studio will only make 1-2 effects movies per year, one for Summer and one for Christmas, everything else must be cheap, and known entities get cash first. Joss Whedon can't put Firefly back on the small screen due to the terms of the contract with Fox, and therefore he'd have to make any new TV series something entirely new, or Dawn/Faith the Vampire Slayer and the Potentials a reprise... Tractenberg is busy with a luke warm movie career, but Dushku's other TV show didn't do well, Spike is on WB already playing General Zod on Smallville, so I think JW will be doing Firefly for some time to come. Now just to nitpick, what about an Internet only subscription series, HBO cable only, or download straight to TiVo series? except for HBO I can't see Fox saying anything about their contract. >>> It doesn't help that I'm such a pain, booking in advance is a >>> lottery, >> My wife is much the same, we found it hard to plan anything in >> advance for a while, now that her new meds work better, we've gone >> places, and even kept dinner reservations. > I was told on thursday that as the specialist pain clinic is out of > the county I live in,(it's 30 miles away,) I have to apply for > specialist funding and probably won't get it. There was in my wife's case a sweetspot where the increased level of mobility produced an increase in mood .vs boredom/depression of not doing anything. She's looking for volunteer work to do in our area, she knows she can't go back to work-work right now. I also had to get her to accept the fact that there are days she should just pack it in because biology/chemistry are against her, and its not a reflection on her as a person if she doesn't get out in the world and do something that day. -- "Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise.
