And the STORY has to be interesting ;-)

I keep remembering Mr. Garrison's line from South park about Contact.
Wait the entire movie to see the alien and it's her goddamn father! 


At least with Firefly Joss Whedon set out with a premise of no aliens, no 
latex forehead aliens, no nothing.

Threshold has setup a notion of strange beings beyond our experience and 
they better pay up...
