YMO*V. Overrated? If by that you mean when Hollywood makes a movie that feels the teensiest bit edgy, or original they want dissporportionately large gobs of credit for their achievement. I think you're just having a contrary allergic reaction to the hype. They get all the story right, they crafted a tale, and then unfolded it, the story was internally consistent, which is hard to both write, then film, make sure the Directors "get's it" and then make sure the guy editing it doesn't drop out important stuff before it hits the theaters. It beat Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Momento all to the screen, and I think had a large part to do with them being made as projects. Although for that kind of suspense I find the Talented Mr. Ripley to rock beyond words, because in 6th Sense and Unbreakable once you find out the surprise, you get up and leave the theater. With Usual Suspects, Momento and Mr. Ripley they continue to keep the suspense high after the reveal. I will take Usual suspects ANYDAY over LA Confidential a similarly hyped Hollywood look what we did movie that wasn't that good. -- "Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise.
