Does anyone recall the Trent Lott fiasco? After a week the republican party
stepped up and chidded Sen Lott for his out of time recial remarks. It was Sen
Lotts threat of giving up hisseat before the next election that stopped the RNC
from doing anything serious about it.

So it was late, should that make any difference? Sure didn't help.
No doubt, the RNC has suffered some from this stonewalling and prolly is the
main reson for his statement.
