I must admit I drive a bit of a gas guzzler (a Rover 620i > which has a 2 litre engine.) But I do a very small mileage. Less than > 5000 miles/year. > The idea of taxing the large SUV/landrover types seems to make sense, I see them with just one person driving them in the centre of a city. Totally stupid and unessecary. The idea of a larger engine being in a larger tax bracket makes perfect sense. Now all we need to do is to make them spend the money on the buses/trains rather than more bloody roads. I am totally reliant on a car to get around. I can take the bus but the service here is so bad it's untrue. They fail to turn up which leaves me standing at the bus stop for a further hour. It's then another 3/4 hour on the bus for a mile and a half journey. The upshot of this is that I only take a journey when absolutely required. I used to ride my bike or take the train.
