The period you refer to is the Sengoku Jidai http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sengoku_Period you should start with appropriate Sengoku period books from; Stephen Turnbull Turnbull has been for a long time regarded as the Western Authority on all things Samurai. and Anthony Bryant IF you play RPGs Bryant in addition to his Osprey titles has co-Authored an RPG called Sengoku, Tony hasn't posted to the mailing list since late April, but there have been many book and reference discussions on the list. Bryant is working on(has?) a Doctorate in Japanese History IIRC. http://www.sengoku.com/ Just in case you are looking for more info, the Sengoku Jidai ended in 1615 when Tokugawa Ieyasu took over Japan, and began the 253 year long Tokugawa Era which ended in the revolution that started the Meiji Era (1868-1912) When I get home I'll take a look at what's on my shelf from Turnbull, Bryant, and others. -- "Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise.
