Well, our area sent down buses loaded with stuff to Baton Rouge, but no
one wanted to come up here to Michigan (too far, they said).  The
volunteers who went down said a lot of people are still in shock. 

One family followed the buses up in their own car.  They got a free
suite at a local hotel, clean clothes a local business gave the dad a
job.  I think the kids have started school, but they say they aren't
going to stay too long.
