According to _The Ultimate Baby Name Book_, Lucian (which is how my
closed-captioning spelled his name) was a second-century satirist, and
St Lucian was a third-century martyr (although the Patron Saints Index
shows a total of four martyr saints named Lucian, one of whom was a
sorceror before converting). And, of course, there's Luciano Pavarotti.
