Heel cups can sometimes help. The orthotics I have (custom made, about $300 ten years ago) provide that and it does help me. I'd forgotten about the initial pain in the mornings. It's been so long since my plantar fascitis was diagnosed. One treatment that brought tremendous relief in a fairly short time (under 24 hours) was cortisone shots in my heels. My podiatrist administered them. There was excruciating pain about 12 hours after the injections - I mean I could only barely hobble a few steps - but once that was gone (and I'd been warned about it) it was heaven. Karen E> .
