FIRST, if you're using Windows, update through their website

THEN, run Nortons update and do a total system scan.

NOW, there's a free Ad-Aware download, but I'd splurge the $26 bucks or so 
and download the Ad-AwareSE version. Then run its scan and follow through.

If you still have issues, go to thetechguys.com website. The geeks that hang 
out there will guide you through any issues for free. They've wiped clean 
two of my computers, and as long as I keep my Windows, Nortons and Ad-Aware 
updated and regularly scan, I'm totally fine.
