In this province deer aren't a problem, moose are. And those suckers are BIG. A great number of moose/car collisions end with the death of both the moose and the driver. I lost a good friend that way a few years ago. In this immediate area, the problem is caribou. You usually don't hit them, you just don't get to move for hours until the several thousand which comprise the migrating herd decide to get off the road. Then you have the idiots out with guns, hunting them with no regard for where they are shooting. Last year the caribou got on the runway of a small airport and the hunters just followed them there and kept shooting. This year they've put fencing all around the airport perimeter, but if it snows as much as usual they'll either have to plough a trench all around the fence or the caribou will just walk right over it.
