They've been setting up Abbie as a super doctor for a couple 
years now. When Kovac first arrived on the show I almost 
thought they were going to set him up as super doctor 
because of some of the things he did during his first couple 
episodes. At a bare minimum I thought they were going to 
give him a semi-mystical characteristic. But then he just 
turned out to be a good actor and they used his character in 
different ways. But in Abby's case I don't see any harm it 
having her do this. You have to remember that ER's days are 
numbered and the series can't go on forever, so if they 
start throwing in a few things like this there is no real 
harm - it will neither improve or lower the ratings.
