Come on over to the scifi side. The air is sweeter. I agree that it is definitely an excellent show, and that I don't believe Galactica could have been brought back any better. It's doubly refreshing after the endless stream of "let's run this franchise on the rims for a few decades" Star Trek disasters/spinoffs (and this is from a TOS *freak*!). In fact what surprises me most about Galactica is how few gripes I have about the show. I was a massive fan of the original, and was loaded for bear on the remake. But really all I can come up with for complaints so far is: - I actually don't like the doctor. The "Look at me! I got a butt goin' while I'm doing surgery!" bit is silly and unnecessary. - That one guy being stranded on that planet for a season and a half was a bit much. - The second in command is AWESOME. I had no idea Sen. John McCain could act. ;-) Two problems though: - The drunk bit is poorly written and/or played. That could be ten times better (think NYPD Blue's Sipowicz). I think it's the writing, because the actor appears to me to be a hell of an actor. - I *dread* the appearance of his wife in any episode. Her, and his interactions with her, are... well, bizarre and inexplicable (in a bad way) are the only words that come to mind. - The metal Cylons and the Cylon ships are too different from the originals, which would be ok if they were cooler than the originals, but they aren't. This is almost offset by the fact that they still have some original Vipers (aka COOLEST SPACESHIPS EVER) around. Almost. - The old colonial helmets were way better than the new ones. - I don't care for the President. I think it's the actress, who incidentally is Carter's mom. And seriously, that's it. .
