The storms in Florida did NOT do as much damage because the population is not concentrated in 'marsh land' and they were catagory 3 and 4 (Katrina was at the low end of cat 5). The damage in Florida was mostly wind, NOT flood as was Katrina, which kept the fatalities much lower. > We don't have alot of huricanes to compare statistics over. Perhaps that is because we are generally the objects of Hurricanes almost every year. When FEMA came in here there assistance was mainly in Mobile Homes for temporary shelter and emergency food and water.
