You both make very fine points but when this all started it was viewed as *A RELIEF EFFORT* The military didn't need to provide a Policing response. In the end it just turned out that way which shocked the hell out of us all! Our Government has to find efficent ways to adapt. I'm sure government guideline stood in the way of the Army from making a response in less than 48 hrs when the Coast Guard cleard the same hurdles applied to them in 6. If the Army is needed to provide huminitarian support they should be released sooner with restrictions that go NO FARTHER THAN RELIEF EFFORTS. The initial response to the Hurricane was perceived to be only a relief response. To the credit of the folks in some of the affected areas it just turned into the need for a police response which, disaster or no is UNACCEPTABLE! In a post 9/11 world it seems we havn't improved much at all in the ole homeland. As goverment goes. It's buisness as usual. I think honest intelligent political minds can make the needed corrections it they truly want to serve the public good. I doubt they will though.
