I was just wondering how economical would it be to get the the oil out? Then you have the transportation cost associated with getting it to refining. I remember when Alaskan oil was supposed to be such a boone. It turned out that most of it went to Japan to fuel their economy. There still a lot of oil in the US, but, they capped the wells until the price rose high enough to justify the cost of recovery, With Katrinas strike at the Oil platforms in the Gulf, and the fact that NO is the port thru which the US gets 60% of oil imports; it looks like gas is set for another 20 cent rise per gallon, maybe even before Labor day.
