Let's talk about the facts. How did the New Orleans Levee Board use federal funds it did receive? (I assume you didn't want people to have the misimpression that all this "pork" was actually used by the Army Corps of Engineers for levee-related projects, right?) Tell us what *fraction* of federal funds actually went to the ACoE for levee reinforcement or even tangentially-related work. While you're digging up that number, tally up how much went to construction and operation of New Orleans marinas, casinos and other absolutely unrelated projects. For example, how many tens of millions were diverted to build the new Six Flags? How about the new riverfront French Quarter Promenade? Wait... Wouldn't revenue from these ventures increase available funding for levee work? Nope, unfortunately not a thin dime went back to ACoE for levee-related work. Do you think state and local officials are second-guessing whether the concrete for their new arenas might have been better applied to the levees? Are you really incapable of telling the whole truth? Or does it interfere with that fantasy life of yours, in which you're the center of everyone's universe? You can feign naivete about pork-barrel politics if you like, but you're not fooling me one bit! Just when you think things couldn't get worse, a-holes like you will come out of the woodwork hoping to loot the political spoils from the ruins of the city. Let them finish carting off the bodies first, at least! --- þ Synchronet þ BBS Doors (www.bbsdoors.com) .
