So, America now we learn what we should ahve been doing all along. 
ONSERVING ENERGY!!

Seems like we did learn something about conservation back in the 70's too.

We can't look to the government to make life rosey either. Doing some [basic]
research on things we like in a car isn't new to folks. We shop for satelite
radios adn style and color etc. But we don't give fuel effieciency enough
weight until we start paying thru the nose for it.

Ask around... What do these countries drive normally? Ask the ones paying $4
per gallon and have been paying it for decades?

In Germany (when I was stationed there) gas on the economy was around 4DM per
liter.

With 3.785l per gallon: we get 15.14 DM per gal. And although the DM isn't used
in Europe any more. it was worth around 1.55 per dollar Which works out to
about $9.75 per gallon for gas. And this was in 1991 values, too.

So while we have junked the lower speed limits and turned away from the fuel
efficient cars, we are still asking ourselves, what happened and who's fault is
it?
